As it does every year, world-renowned color-chart guru Pantone has revealed its color of the year 2019. It will be (drum roll!) ... "Living Coral!" Let's check it out.

Each year, Pantone, an absolute expert in color, chooses a color that's gained ground and will particularly influence the year to come. Beyond the rule of color, societal values, ideas, experiences underlie the decision. With coral, the choice seems obvious, as we see it everywhere. This gentle tone, both serene and reassuring, also calls for the return to nature  (for info, green was the color for 2017), and recalls our compelling need for nurturing tones that are buoyant and warm in these troubled times ... 

Coral as the 2019 Color: What Do We Think?

Well, we're swooning over this color. We didn't wait for Pantone to proclaim it as the queen of colors: our Insta community—always ahead of a trend, tigers—loves this color: the ALL TIGERS Coral Orange 785 "Hear Me Roar" liquid lipstick is Pantone's 2019 Living Coral twin—in a green, vegan, and stylish version. A roar that is sensual, tender and festive. A must !

So, Why Are We Grumbling?

We groan, we waver, we waffle, it's true. First, it's because we're snobs. Fine, we've said it. The Pantone prediction is followed every year by interior designers, fashion designers, and, of course, the world of cosmetics: it determines a trend and inspires creators. Already well present, coral be out with even more force. We'll find it in every decoration catalog, on every hanger of ready-to-wear brand, and, of course, in every makeup pallet... Enough to have us keep our distance.

A trend guru just has to lift their wet finger in the wind and proclaim "The spring-summer season will be taupe"... and in three months everyone will be sipping tea from their amazing taupe cup while thinking "Not a bad color for a sofa ..." Argh, and we're fooled again. And before that, there was anise green, mustard yellow, intense violet, camel... Can we stop with the list? 

So, we're torn. Do we really want to be under the influence, affirm its originality when the color is everywhere? Wise question. Does freely choosing a color means that we must thwart the fads...? "Resist!" We all know the song. 

But We Love It, Anyway!

So, we move to rationality. Before we succumb to this fashionable color, we must ask: why do we love it? Because it's fashionable?

We must face the facts: coral orange is fabulous on lips. It's one of those rare lipstick colors that immediately look good. In all seasons, it brightens the face, warms the hues, harmonizes with red or brown hair, and highlights dark skin. Less classic than red or pink, it is the essence of "glow": under a gray sky, it gives a pop, and with the first rays of sunshine, it's totally uplifting. That's why we love it! 

So never mind if you're a fashion victim: coral orange lipstick may be the color of the year, but it's practically a new classic... And if it's natural lipstick, it's even better. Plus, it will be all the easier to adopt, since you'll find it everywhere in our wardrobe and in decor in 2019. ;-)
